This
guitar is similar in outline to the Padauk solidbody, but has a
number of features that are worth mentioning.
The lower body horn has been redesigned to make it more
attractive, and to offer even better upper fret access.
The one-piece Padauk body has a large cavity routed out of the
treble side to reduce weight. The effect of this cavity can be heard
clearly when the guitar is played acoustically. Amplified,
the sound is noticeably different from the Padauk solidbody,
despite sharing the same basic construction and pickups. Since
the decorative top is unlikely to have much effect on the sound,
it would appear that the body cavity is responsible for the
difference in tone.
The decorative top is a bookmatched piece of Buck-Eye Burl, which
is a North American root burr. The headstock is faced in
the same timber.
The one-piece neck (no scarf joint) is lightly flamed maple, and
features a deep V-shaped profile. The fingerboard is Asian
striped Ebony with Abalone inlays.
The pickups are both Kent Armstrongs - a 'Rocker' at the bridge
and a 'PAF' at the neck. They are wired through conventionl 3-way
toggle switch for selection, and a rotary switch for coil tapping
& phase switching to give a wide range of single-coil and
Humbucking sounds.

Here is a closeup of the figured top, complete with sparkly knobs.
